About Wigipedia
From Wigipedia, the free hair encyclopedia
Wigipedia is a small, free encyclopedia about hair, wigs, and (a little) fur. It looks and reads like a real encyclopedia because, mostly, it is one: the articles aim to be quirky but true — genuinely interesting, occasionally strange, and checked against reality — just told with a lighter touch than the usual reference work.
What Wigipedia is not
It is not Wikipedia, and it is not affiliated with the Wikimedia Foundation. It is a parody in tone, not in facts. When you see a [citation needed] gag, that is a joke about encyclopedias, not a warning that the surrounding sentence is made up. Where a specific claim is checkable — a date, a name, a patent number — we try to get it right.
How it's made
Wigipedia is an open-source static site built with Astro and hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Every article is a Markdown file in the public repository.
How to contribute
There is no in-browser editor yet — editing happens through GitHub pull requests. Use the “Edit on GitHub” link at the top of any article, or read the contributing guide to add a new one. Article text and original images are licensed CC BY-SA 4.0; the code is MIT.
The rules of the comb
- Real subjects, surprising real facts.
- No copyrighted text or images — original or AI-generated only.
- Cross-link generously. A wiki is a web, not a list.
- Keep it fun.
